after stopping by the 'rents i headed to madison to kick it for a few hours, hung out on state street for a while..

met up with randall and he showed me the co-op he was moving out of; amazing location, amazing garden, amazing view, amazing.

after that i met allie and her bf for dinner at the new restaurant that used to be that one futuristic wine and dessert place. they sell amazing greasy deep fried goodness (a deep fried hard boiled egg covered in cheese?!?! whaaaaat.

then we went to portabella and hung out with jack, after he bought us some drinks we headed to the union to see fang island

and i ran into the long lost love of my life. dustyyyyyy

i don't know if you've ever been to madison during moving days... but it's always interesting..

after being unable to use the internet recreationally for an entire month, i have lost what it was that kept me on for hours
as a result i have a TON of free time so i decided to start devoting some of my time to getting those projects done, that never get done. it's a never ending list but i feel better about things

got this little gem at unique in burnsville, who am i? i am this chest.

i took a box of clothes (that ended up not being as full as originally planned...) to buffalo exchange and got this skirt and ....

this suitcase! amazing, i'm so american apparel right? hopefully this will encourage me to bring less things, way more attractive than a land's end duffle bag (sorry dad)

i also spent 2 hours at ikea and all i bought was this rug that actually doesn't match as well as i thought it would. i always try to get inspired at ikea and fill up a list of things i want, and i'll even carry them around for a while and then end up stashing them last minute (vegetable steamer, wine bottle holder, new dish drain, wok, a hanging pot and pan holder, cutting boards, storage containers, wine glasses, water jugs, candles, pillows, rugs, curtains, fabric etc etc etc)

i found this little handmade shelf thing at savers for about 4 dollars! into it. women always brag about good deals, it's in our genes

and for my biggest accomplishment, i FINALLY moved my kitchen table from my downstairs porch area to my kitchen, which in turn allowed me to move my desk into my bedroom, no more sewing machine/coffee spilling desk!

i also went to home depot and picked out paint swatches, i don't know how much longer i'm going to be living in this place but a part of me doesn't care and i want to make it one of those houses your friends have that you wished you lived at because it's so great except it will be great because i do live here.
it's a self discovery process.
this is something i have to do for myself.

i had everything so neatly planned every day. to the point that any reschedule would, and did, throw anything and everything off. at the same time i feel as if i have nothing to do. maybe this is what happens when you plan accordingly.

went to the dentist the other day to get fillings and had what i thought was, my first panic attack. heart beating so fast i could barely think, light headed, sweating so much my jeans were wet and there was steam on the sunglasses i was wearing (to protect my eyes from that bright dentist light you know) my hands went numb and i cried. it was so embarrassing. my mom told me that i used to get panic attacks when i was little, at the dentist, or whenever i was hurt, even if it didn't hurt. i don't remember any of this, and i am terrified to go back.

i have a neatly stacked pile of construction paper demo cases for next week.

as sad as it seems, i am almost just as excited to go to ohio for work as i am to go to sxsw. both are things that i have wanted for a long time, and they're all happening within a month.

i still feel alone sometimes, and i indulge in idealistic romantic ideas of coupledom that i would probably never actually follow through on, if given the chance. it's the only thing that distracts me from work mode. which is so sad.

i've been thinking about chicago a lot. i miss my marta. i would love to try and grow in a place that seems so tall. a challenge. figuring out different routes to take and how they overlap, connect and stray from each other. i fantasize about the city life and taking the train. i wouldn't move there on a whim, i love my life here in minneapolis, i love my apartment, my new friends, my job etc. but if an opportunity presented itself i would not turn it down.

i'm the happiest i have ever been, yet i feel disconnected here. i don't know why.
i spend so much time missing, i'm always in the wrong place

when i was little my mom used to have us fill cups up with snow and bring them inside. she would pour warm maple syrup on them and we would eat it.

since it's my day off today, and i woke up at 10:45 (from a phone call) and i spent a ridiculous amount of money on food yesterday, i decided to make myself a breakfast of champions: crepes with fried potatoes
and i'm going to tell you all about it

potatoes:
1 red potato (1 per serving, depending on how much you eat and how big the potatoes are i suppose)
1 garlic clove
red onion/green onion
salt
pepper
lawry's
olive oil

pour some olive oil in pan on low. add garlic. slice potato however you like and add to pan (don't burn yourself!). add lawry's, salt and pepper to taste, you need more than you think..) slice some red onion however you like and add to potatoes. you can let these cook while you make your crepes, keep an eye on them and stir em around occasionally..

crepes:
1 cup flour
1 cup milk
3 or 4 eggs
1 tsp vanilla

beat eggs, add milk and vanilla. stir in flour until smooth.
butter a large pan, turn heat med-high. when the pan is sizzling hot lift it up off the burner and pour your "test" crepe. rotate the pan around to make the batter as thin as possible. (my grandma always gets a perfect circle idk how, sometimes you end up with a face)

based off this first crepe you may need to add more flour (if the batter is too thin) or more milk (if the batter is too thick)

when all your batter is gone and you have a bunch of misshapen thin pancakes. take one put it on a plate, add butter and syrup* and spread it around (you don't need very much syrup) and roll it up! then add your potatoes and top them with feta cheese and ketchup. the perfect balance of sweet and salty.

i win.

*butter and syrup - you can also use jam and whipped cream and mix it up and spread it around. all i have is butter and syrup.
